How quickly the weeks pass by. It only seems like a few days since our last meeting and here I am, already writing with details of the next one! Thanks to all who came along to our quiz night in January. I hope you enjoyed it. Well done to Carin Föhr for winning, and to Chris & Brigi Haskins for second place. The questions were, once again, quite tough, so it was no mean feat to get such good scores.
I’m now going to brighten up your cold and wintry weekend with news of our next meeting, on Friday, 27th February, at 7.30pm, which will give you a little taste of Mediterranean sunshine. I have booked us into a new Sardinian restaurant, which has opened recently on the island, “Osteria Shardana”, on the corner of Ludwigstrasse and Vordere Metzgergasse. I’ve been there a couple of times now and have been really impressed by their high-standard of cooking and great wines. The restaurant is family-run and they cook authentic Sardinian food, with a menu that changes daily depending on what fresh produce they have been able to source. As I have reserved the entire restaurant for us, I am doing something a little bit different to our usual meetings, in that I will need you to let me know if you are intending on coming. I have asked them to organise us a menu, for a set price of 15 € (drinks extra), which will probably consist of mixed antipasti as a starter, plus choice of main courses (vegetarian options are always included). They are going to give me an exact proposal at the beginning of that week, which I will send out to everyone, but I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed – the friendly atmosphere and food are really good. For any of you who are not familiar with the location of the venue, if you are standing at the train station, take the road directly opposite, between the Bayerischer Hof Hotel and the tourist office (Ludwigstrasse) and walk along until you reach the restaurant on the left-hand side. It shouldn’t take you more than 3-5 minutes. It is literally around the corner from Cafe Collodium (where we had our last meeting) if that helps.
