Thank you to all of you who joined us during our Summer Tour 2022! We met in Dornbirn, Lochau, Hattnau-Wasserburg and Bregenz but are back in Lindau this month, now that the majority of tourists have gone and it’s easier to get a booking in the local restaurants and bars. We have a meeting coming up at the end of this week, on Friday, 30th September, and this time we will back on Lindau island at ‘Biero – Schmid & Hops’ (www.biero-lindau.de), In der Grub 36 (not far from the Irish Pub) We’ve been there a couple of times already, the last being in May this year, and it has proven a popular place to go. Hand-crafted beers are brewed on the premises and locally-sourced food and wines are also on offer. Tables are booked for 7pm. Please ask for the expats group if you’re not sure who we are or what we look like.

For those of you with young children, our member Rachel Carroll, mum of two young boys, is planning another playground meet-up on Friday 14th October, which will be at the ‘Elephant’ playground on the island, Sina-Kinkelin-Platz, (next to the Maria Ward Kindergarten). Rachel will be there with her boys from 2pm until about 4pm, and will tie some balloons to her stroller so that you can find her Please feel free to come along and make new friends.

We are having a service of thanksgiving for the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and this will be on Wednesday, 12th October at 6.30pm at St Johannes church, Nonnenhorner Str.20, 88142 Wasserburg (www.lindau-evangelisch.de/st-johannes) I hope that this time of day will enable those of you who are working to come along after work and take part in this service, with hymns, readings and prayers in English, followed by refreshments and a chance to chat in the church hall next door. The church is only a short distance from the centre of the village and parking is easy, with plenty of spaces directly across the road. If coming by train, you need only walk about ten minutes. The service will be led by our member Ros Parkinson and we will also have the church organist playing for us. All are welcome, but I would very much appreciate an idea of numbers, as we will need to print out order of service sheets and plan for refreshments. Please drop me a line (lindauexpats@gmail.com) to let me know if you would like to come and with how many guests. Thank you.

I hope to reintroduce our monthly walks or rambles during this autumn and winter, as they proved popular when we had them during Corona times and it’s nice to do something active together. Something is already in the pipeline for the weekend of 15th/16th October. More info coming in the October newsletter!

If you’re not already on our mailing list, drop me a line to lindauexpats@gmail.com and ask me to add you. See you soon!
