Hello everyone, after many months of Covid-induced lockdown.

What a year it’s been so far!

I am sorry that there has been such a long pause between my last newsletter and this one, however I’m sure that you will all understand that with us not being able to get together and with no cinemas open, concerts to see, etc. that there was little point in putting pen to paper, or rather, fingers to keyboard.

Times of uncertainty and change bring us back to what is most elemental and crucial. Health, having people around who care for you, a home, food, a steady financial situation. All of them important for giving us peace of mind. There are so many things that are out of our control but we can all influence and improve our immediate environment by concentrating on the small-scale changes we can make and the power that we do have. Keeping an eye out for each other, not being wasteful, buying local, becoming as self-sufficient as we can, looking after our physical and mental well-being. Having human contact in the form of our meetings and get-togethers, even if it does have to be within social distancing guidelines, is something that I would like to resume, especially now that it’s become possible once again. I will understand that some of you may be reluctant to go out and mix with others and that’s perfectly understandable, but we have to start somewhere and to that end I have booked Café Hugo, Maximillianstraße, for our group’s July meeting. This will be on Friday, 31st July at 7pm. Sevi is opening especially for us, and if the weather is nice we can sit outside; otherwise there’s plenty of space inside. I don’t normally ask people to confirm if they are going to be there, but if you DO know if you are going to be able to make it, I would be really happy to hear from you. It will mean that I can give Sevi an idea of numbers and he can plan as regards catering. As the current regulations stand, you need to wear a mask to go onto the premises and when moving around. When you’re sitting down, then you can take the mask off. I look forward to seeing lots of you and having the chance to catch up after all this time!

We normally have a Coffee Club meeting in the middle of each month. I will be in touch in another week or two with details of where and when the next one will be, but it’s likely to be on the weekend of 15th / 16th August.

Hope to see you really soon! You can email me at lindauexpats@gmail.com
