About

We are an informal group of English native-speakers who live in, and around, Lindau, Lake Constance.

The club was founded by Amanda Davies and Katrin Heide in 2004, with the first meeting on 29th March of that year. It began as a regular afternoon get-together for English-speaking mums and their young children, which then transformed into a monthly night-out about a year later, for an ever-growing group of men and women, living in the area.

There are currently more than 500 members in total. We welcome new members from all walks of life, all age groups, and of course from any English-speaking part of the world. Our members come not just from the UK and Ireland, but also Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, India, Sri Lanka, Malta, Singapore and South Africa.

Since March 2015, we’ve been having two get-togethers a month. We have our “Last-Friday-of-the-Month” night out, where the venue varies from month to month for a bit of variety. The details are published in advance on this site, on our Facebook page (Lindau Ex-Pats Club) and via the mailing list. We also have a monthly Coffee Club meeting, which usually takes place on a weekend, mid-month. This enables various members who find it difficult to get out in the evenings (ie. because of needing a baby-sitter) a chance to come along and join in. The venue is usually one of the many cosy cafes on the island, most of which are child- and dog-friendly!

Our main aim is just to have fun and sociable meetings, like back at home, when you might head out to a pub or café for a chat and a laugh with friends.
