Hello everyone,

Happy to tell you that we have a couple of meetings coming up in the near future.

First of all, our Coffee Club is going over the border to Austria this weekend, with tables booked from 11am on Saturday, 15th at KUB Café Bar (at the Kunsthaus), Karl-Tizian-Platz 1, Bregenz. If you want to come by train, the Kunsthaus is between Bregenz-Hauptbahnhof and the Bregenz-Hafen stations. To keep the Lindau connection, the café is run by the three brothers who used to have Marmorsaal, at Lindau harbour. Natalie looks forward to welcoming you all! Family, friends, dogs, etc are all welcome.

Our usual evening meeting on the last Friday of the month is being brought forward this month as I will be on holiday. We will be getting together on Wednesday, 19th, instead, which is the day before the Fronleichnam (Corpus Christi) bank holiday, so most of you won’t have to worry about getting up for work the next day. The weather is due to be really nice, so I’m going to be at Il Cappuccino cafe, Maximilianstrasse, (on the corner across from the Deutsche Telekom shop) from 7pm onwards. I’m not able to reserve tables outside, so we’ll have to just take our chances and turn up in hope! If the weather forecast proves wrong then we’ll be indoors.

Lindau will be hosting one of its big events on the weekend of Thursday, 20th – Sunday, 23rd June, with the Rund Um sailing regatta. This all-night around-the-lake race starts and finishes in front of the island on the Friday night but there is a varied programme of events the whole weekend, from a maritime market on the harbour on the Thursday, Karl Frierson and his band in concert on the Thursday night, the race start at 7.30pm on Friday, the return of the boats from the early hours on Saturday and throughout the whole day, followed by fireworks and more music at the harbour on Saturday night. If you haven’t seen it before, it’s quite a sight, with hundreds of sailing ships, from racing catamarans to small dinghies taking part. Tickets are available to go on one of the many spectator ships and ferries to follow the start of the race. Otherwise just find yourself a spot along the shore to watch the ships juggling to get the best start.

I look forward to seeing lots of you at some point this month! Amanda
