November 2022

Thank you to all of you who joined us at one of our events last month, whether it was the remembrance service for the Queen, the playground meet-up, the lovely hike through the Rickenbacher Tobel or our night out at Minibar in Friedrichshafen last Friday. We had a really broad range of events on offer and it was interesting to see the various people who came along to each thing. We really do have plenty of options for you to get involved and get to know new friends, as well as catch-up with familiar faces, regardless of what you enjoy … Continue Reading →

October Meet-Ups

We are having a special service of thanksgiving and remembrance for the late Queen Elizabeth II on Wednesday, 12th October at 6.30pm, in St. Johannes Kirche, Wasserburg. This is open to everyone – you don’t have to be British, or a regular churchgoer, to attend – and families, friends, etc are all welcome. The service will be fairly short (about half an hour) with a couple of well-known hymns and all the readings and prayers in English. Afterwards we will be able to go next door to the church hall for a glass of wine, cup of tea or coffee, … Continue Reading →

End of September…into October 2022

Thank you to all of you who joined us during our Summer Tour 2022! We met in Dornbirn, Lochau, Hattnau-Wasserburg and Bregenz but are back in Lindau this month, now that the majority of tourists have gone and it’s easier to get a booking in the local restaurants and bars. We have a meeting coming up at the end of this week, on Friday, 30th September, and this time we will back on Lindau island at ‘Biero – Schmid & Hops’ (, In der Grub 36 (not far from the Irish Pub) We’ve been there a couple of times already, … Continue Reading →

July / August update

(Apologies for the lack of update in June or early July. We have been trying to get the website updated during this time and therefore it wasn’t possible). With holiday time upon us, I thought the Expats Club should also have a change of scene and go ‘on tour’, meeting away from the island, at least until September. We’ll be having our get-togethers in other towns (and villages) and I’m hoping that lots of you will be able to join us, particularly if we are coming to somewhere near you! We are starting at the end of this month, with … Continue Reading →

May 2022

I hope that you are all well and are enjoying the lovely weather we’ve had lately. It was a really nice surprise to be able to sit outside all evening when we had our meet-up at the harbour at the end of April. Let’s hope that the summer continues to bless us with lots of sunshine and opportunities to gather with friends in the fresh air. As you will know from the last newsletter, our ‘Coffee Club’ meeting was last weekend, rather than mid-month, but don’t worry, your next chance for a get-together will be on Friday, 27th May, from … Continue Reading →

April Night out and heads-up for May ‘22

Just a quick mail to remind you that we have a get-together tonight at ’37 Grad’ café / bar, Lindau harbour. We’ve got tables reserved from 7pm until closing time (10pm). I hope that lots of you will be able to join me, especially as the weather is looking good. If it’s warm enough, we can hopefully start the evening by sitting outside.  Also, another event is taking place onSunday, 1st May, for all of you guys from, or with connections to, South Africa: the annual Bring-and-Braai in Liechtenstein at Robinsons Spielplatz  This is organised by our friend Greg and his Welsh wife, Nessa, and Greg will be bringing … Continue Reading →

March 2022 meet-ups

Thanks to all those of you who have been coming to our monthly rambles. I must say, it’s been really nice to get out in the fresh air, meet some new members as well as old friends and have time for some proper chats. We’ve also been really lucky with the weather on the days we chose. I will continue planning in the occasional ramble but for the month of March I have decided on two indoor meet-ups instead. Firstly, we have a Coffee Club meeting on Sunday, 13th March at 10am, at café “37 Grad”, Lindau Harbour. Most of … Continue Reading →

February Ramble

Apologies for not having updated the site since November. Nothing happened in December – all of our planned events had to be cancelled shortly beforehand due to the increased Corona restrictions, unfortunately. We had a ramble in January, through the countryside of Sigmarszell and Hergensweiler, but I forgot to update this site. Sorry! We have another ramble planned for this month, which will be on Sunday, 20th February. This time the meeting point will be on the corner of Wackerstraße /Schachener Straße and Giebelbachstraße in Lindau, not far from the tennis club. The two nearby bus stops (‘Giebelbach’), served by … Continue Reading →

November 2021

Mike Corrigan has kindly agreed to host the Coffee Club meeting this month and he has booked tables at “37 Grad” café at the harbour, on Sunday, 14th November. Tables are booked (inside) from 11am but if the weather is still as good as it is at the moment, it may be possible to sit out in the sunshine. Fingers crossed! English-speaking family and friends are always welcome to join us at our meetings so feel free to bring them with you. Don’t forget you’ll need a mask inside and also show proof of a negative Covid test, recovery or … Continue Reading →

October 2021 Meetings

Hello fellow expats and welcome to the October newsletter. Thanks to all of you who came along to our events in September, whether it was our inaugural ramble followed by coffee and cake, or our night-out at the new micro-brewery on the island. It was lovely that the weather played ball in both cases and the fact that we were able to sit outside all evening at the end of September was a nice surprise. I don’t think there’ll be much sitting ‘al fresco’ this month but I can offer you a get-together combined with a bit of fresh air … Continue Reading →
