Just a quick mail to remind you that we have a get-together tonight at ’37 Grad’ café / bar, Lindau harbour. We’ve got tables reserved from 7pm until closing time (10pm). I hope that lots of you will be able to join me, especially as the weather is looking good. If it’s warm enough, we can hopefully start the evening by sitting outside.

Also, another event is taking place onSunday, 1st May, for all of you guys from, or with connections to, South Africa: the annual Bring-and-Braai in Liechtenstein at Robinsons Spielplatz https://tourismus.li/lie/ort/Robinson-Spielplatz%20Forst/  This is organised by our friend Greg and his Welsh wife, Nessa, and Greg will be bringing along some South African beers, cream soda and chutneys for a bit of nostalgia. The Braai will take place whatever the weather, so bring whatever you want to eat, as well as some protection from the rain if necessary! Meet-up time is 10amonwards. If you need further info, or want to register your interest for the other regular South African events, please drop Greg a line: gregness2006@vol.at

I’m planning to write the May newsletter over the next few days, but in the meantime I’ll just mention a couple of things: our Coffee Club meeting in May is going to be on Saturday, 7th May from 3pm at Minibar FN, Kleineberg Str. 9, 88046 Friedrichshafen (www.minibar-fn.de). The bar has become incredibly popular – no surprise for any of you who have already been – but Sam and Mike have kindly offered to open up at 3pm (an hour earlier than usual) for us to be able to get there and grab some tables before the world and his dog turn up. Come along for some fine hand-crafted gins (including non-alcoholic), a wide selection of craft beers or one of their legendary toasted sandwiches. For those of you who don’t live in FN, the bar is only a couple of minutes walk from the Friedrichshafen Hafen train station and the big car park near the car-ferry.

Finally, the English-language drama group, The Bodensee Players, are putting on a new production with performances in May and you might want to get tickets organised soon:
