It’s always good to get out of the house in the winter, rather than spend another evening holed up indoors, although it does take a certain amount of motivation, I know. Our next night out will be on Friday, 28th February in the ‘Bockstube’ which is the ground floor bar of Hotel Engel, Schafgasse 4 and I hope that I can see lots of you there. I have booked the whole place for us, from 7pm and as it’s one of their busiest nights of the week it took a bit of persuasion to convince them that we will fill … Continue Reading →
Tonight is our annual quiz night and a chance to get those grey cells working, at “37 Grad”, Lindau Harbour. I’ve booked the large room at the front from 7pm and I’m hoping that lots of you will be able to make what is probably our highlight of the year. Quizmaster Mike will be testing our memory and general knowledge. You can take part either on your own or in pairs and there’ll be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Please bring along some small change for the modest entrance fee and a pen or pencil for filling in … Continue Reading →
Hello everyone, We’ll be meeting for the last time this year on Friday, 27th December. I’ve planned for us to meet outside the main train station entrance between 2.20 and 2.30pm. We’re then going to take a stroll across the island, taking in the always impressive nativity scene in St Stephan’s church, as well as paying a visit to the oak tree that we donated to the town to mark our 10th anniversary. Finally we can enjoy a restorative coffee or tea, and perhaps a cake or two, in the cosy surroundings of Café Vogler in Inselgraben. Please let me … Continue Reading →
Hi everyone. Wow, November simply zipped by and here we are at the end of the year with only a few weeks to go until the festivities begin. I hope that this finds you well and that you have had a good year so far. I’ve really enjoyed meeting so many of you this year and am looking forward to seeing you again at our final get-togethers in 2019. I haven’t got the venue for this month’s evening meeting finalised yet, but wanted to let you know about our last Coffee Club meeting of the year, which will be at … Continue Reading →
Hello everyone, OK well we’re teetering at the end of the month and it’s dangerously late to be posting this, but we’ve got an event planned for tomorrow (31st October): our Halloween dinner at Gasthaus zum Sünfzen, at the end of Maximilianstrasse. Tables are booked in the private room, to the left as you go in, from 7pm. Costumes are optional! Sünfzen do good, traditional German food, so come along hungry. Family and friends are always welcome to come along. I look forward to seeing you! All the best, Amanda
Our evening meeting on Friday, 30th August will be held at Hotel Stift, with tables booked outside in the beer garden if the weather is good and inside if it’s cold and/or wet. Hello everyone, Happy to tell you that we have a couple of meetings coming up in the near future. First of all, our Coffee Club is going over the border to Austria this weekend, with tables booked from 11am on Saturday, 15th at KUB Café Bar (at the Kunsthaus), Karl-Tizian-Platz 1, Bregenz. If you want to come by train, the Kunsthaus is between Bregenz-Hauptbahnhof and the Bregenz-Hafen stations. To keep the Lindau connection, the café is run by the three brothers who used to have Marmorsaal, at Lindau harbour. Natalie looks forward to welcoming you all! Family, friends, dogs, etc … Continue Reading →
Thanks to those of you who came along to the Coffee Club get-together at “Mokka” on Saturday and to Natalie for organising it. I enjoyed going somewhere new and was impressed at how nicely the building had been renovated. The staff were friendly and the food looked really delicious, so I can see that we’ll be heading there again at some point. Our next evening meeting will be on Friday, 31st May in the “Bockstube” bar, on the ground floor of Hotel Engel (https://en.engel-lindau.de/). It’s a little snug, with not a huge number of seats, but there’s standing room too … Continue Reading →
Morning everyone. Natalie has booked tables at a new venue: “Mokka”, which is halfway down Maximilianstrasse, behind the flower stall. Hope to see you from 11am onwards for a chat and a laugh. Family and friends welcome.
