April Get-Togethers

The first of our upcoming meetings will be the Saturday Morning Coffee Club this weekend (Sat, 16th) at Eiscafe Schreier, on the harbour. Natalie has booked a table inside for 11am onwards (it’s not possible to book a table outdoors, but if the weather is good and a table is free we can always move outside). It will be interesting to see what it’s like since the new proprietors took over….. Our evening get-together will be two weeks later, on Friday, 29th April, at Weinstube Reutin, Kemptener Str. 45 (on the crossroads, across from Gasthof Köchlin). See the website for … Continue Reading →

Post-Easter Night-Out

Hi Ex-Pats! As the Easter holidays will be falling at the end of this month, and I, like many of you, will be of the country, I am taking the liberty of moving the March evening meeting to Friday, 8th April. I have booked the whole of the “Bockstube” on the ground floor of Hotel Engel, (http://en.engel-lindau.de/) from 7pm onwards, and as many of you will already know, they serve great food, as well as good wines and beer. There aren’t a huge amount of seat-spaces in the Bockstube……if there are more than 20 of us, then it may be … Continue Reading →

February 2016 – Night-Out

Hello friends and fellow Ex-Pats! Once again, I got a bit forgetful and didn’t post details of our last meet-up at the end of January. Apologies to any of you who get their information via this website and not from our mailing list or Facebook page! This month we’ll be meeting on Friday, 26th February, at one of our old favourites, “Cafe Collodium”, Vordere Metzgergasse, which I’ve booked from 7pm onwards. For those of you who haven’t been there yet, Cafe Collodium is literally around the corner from the Osteria Shardana where we met last month, and only a couple … Continue Reading →

A Cornucopia of Festive Events!

We have a few events taking place this month and not just our usual last-Friday-of-the-month night out. The first is the Saturday Coffee Club which will be inside Eiscafe Schreier, Lindau harbour, on Saturday, 5th December, from 11am until 1pm. Our lovely Natalie will be your “hostess-with-the-mostest” and her equally lovely son, Josh, is providing a child-minding service for all those parents among you who would like to have a peaceful few minutes to enjoy their coffee. If possible, bring a few toys and he will do his utmost to keep them happy and occupied. Thanks Josh! Our second event … Continue Reading →

November Activities…….lots going on :-)

This month we have two evening meet-ups and also a morning session with the Saturday Coffee Club on the menu…… The first event coming up is the Coffee Club this coming Saturday (7th November) at 11.30am onwards, at Cafe Collodium, Vordere Metzgergasse (http://collodium.verwirklicht.com/page/willkommen.html). Saturday is the opening day of the annual Lindauer Jahrmarkt – where for four days market stalls fill the main streets of the town and the funfair is, for the first time ever, also in the heart of the old town – stretching from the railway station right along the harbour to the back of the Altes … Continue Reading →

September Get-Togethers 2015

Oops, forgetful me! I didn’t get around to posting the July meeting (and in August we didn’t have one anyway as I was in need of a holiday) so to make amends, I’ve organised TWO get-togethers for this month. The first is a daytime meeting, on Saturday, 12th September, at Eiscafe Schreier (on the harbour) at 11am. NO tables are booked – we’ll just have to grab what we can when we arrive – and I’ll probably be there for around an hour. The second is our usual last-Friday-of-the-month night out, on 25th September, 7pm onwards, at Gasthof Köchlin (www.hotel-koechlin.de). … Continue Reading →

Midsummer Meet-Up

Our meeting this month, on Friday, 26th June, is going to be in the heart of the island, at Gasthaus Sünfzen (http://www.suenfzen.de/), at the end of Maximilianstrasse. If we have any luck with the weather, then I hope that we will be able to sit outside, but if not, then we have the side-room booked just for us. Tables are reserved from the slightly earlier time of 7pm. Just ask the waiters/waitresses where the group are seated if you get there and don’t see us straight away. If you need further directions, a look at the menu, etc. then just … Continue Reading →

May Night-Out

I hope that you are all fit and well. I’m sure that most of you are looking forward to this long bank-holiday weekend, and many of you with children will no doubt be making plans for the next couple of weeks, what with the schools breaking up for the Whitsun holidays. For those of you who are staying here, our next get-together, on Friday, 29th May, will be once again back on the island. We will be meeting at “Wissinger’s im Schlechterbräu”, (www.wissingers.de), In der Grub 28 (a few houses further along from the Irish Pub and roughly opposite the … Continue Reading →

April Night-Out

Thanks to all of you who came along to our last meet-ups, at Zur Alten Werft at the end of March, and to Cafe Hugo during the afternoon at the beginning of this month. I find it interesting to vary where we meet, and I hope that many of you have discovered new places to eat and drink since coming along to our get-togethers. At the end of this month, we will be venturing away from the island, as the annual meeting/conference of psychotherapists has just begun in Lindau, and for the coming fortnight all of the hotels, restaurants and bars are booked solid. … Continue Reading →

April Afternoon Mini Meet-Up!

Just a very quick mail to let you know that, due to popular demand, we are having another afternoon get-together this weekend. Some of you may be away, making the most of the school holidays and/or the long Easter weekend, but if you are here and fancy a convivial afternoon coffee and chat, then make a note on your calendars for Saturday, 4th April, at Cafe Hugo, Maximilianstr. 24 (under the stone arcades near the flower stall), from 3pm until about 5pm. I have booked the large table at the back of the cafe just for us……if more turn up … Continue Reading →
